What is rhinoplasty?

Depending on the patient's goals and anatomy, surgery may involve changing the bridge, refining the tip, adjusting the nostrils, correcting asymmetry or modifying the overall proportions of the nose.

In some cases, rhinoplasty may also be combined with surgery to correct a deviated septum or other structural issues affecting breathing.

A splint is commonly placed over the nose during the initial healing period and is often removed after approximately one week.

Swelling, stuffiness and some bruising are common after surgery. These generally improve during the first few weeks, although residual swelling may take considerably longer to resolve.

Patients can often return to many normal daily activities relatively quickly, but strenuous exercise and activities that could injure the nose usually need to be avoided for longer.

The final shape of the nose develops gradually and may continue refining for several months.

As with any surgical procedure, rhinoplasty involves potential risks.
